We hope most of you got to see the Fayetteville Edition of Extreme Makeover. Many of you commented on the medal shadow box we did for the show. Here is the picture of the shadow box and a few comments on how we achieved it.
Heather, our contact with Extreme Makeover brought us 5 coins engraved with words selected by Nikki’s children as names for medals the would like for their Mom. Heather wanted them to look like military medals. Se we cut mat openings in the shape of the ribbon on the military medals. With various widths and colors of ribbons to match her room, we were able to do this. The large “Honored Mother” medal in the middle came complete and just needed to be attached. In the opening under the medals we put the description written by her children. Under the large medal was a plate engrave with a description and her children’s names. The frame and mat colors were chosen to go with the bedroom she would be using. We used a filet around the mat openings to them a more finished look.
If you have someone who deserves a medal, we’d be glad to make one for you too. It is always an honor to support our military, active or veteran.
